Dad's Cornet

It was absolutely wonderful to hear Dad’s cornet being played. It sounded fantastic, no one would ever know it had been sitting in its case for years(by the way, it is a cornet). I took it to a friend of mine, whose husband plays all sorts of trumpets and cornets. He loves to play, and plays professionally whenever he can, while being a full time teacher. As he played, I felt so close to dad. I could easily picture myself and dad years ago, when dad was showing me how to play a few notes. Dad picked up his cornet as if he was saying hello to an old friend. It became a part of him in no time, he put his three fingers on the 1st 2nd and 3rd valves and started to play a quick melody. I watched him with admiration, wanting to pick it up like he did and simply play effortlessly. However I hadn’t understood the real effort that I would need to make one single note. I may have been full of hot air, but I still couldn’t blow that wonderful instrument just right. I therefore gave up pretty quickly on playing the cornet. Dad could play so easily, and yet the playing came to a stop. I think it would have been wonderful, to have had a family music night, with Dad playing his cornet and mom playing the piano. That would have been pretty cool.

A HAPPY HALLOWEEN

There were plenty of events for the kids. It was fun to watch them enjoy 3-4 days of halloween fun. With games to win prizes, a puppet show, fun in the pumpkin patch picking our pumpkins and going down a huge slide!! Then of course the Trick or treating - which started in the afternoon here with the downtown stores giving out candy. And then continued on until past dark. MAN OH MAN, I think all the kids got their holiday supply of candy, thats for sure. All the kids costumes were so fun to see. Of course our grandkids were the cutest. LOL

A Beautiful Drive

Nice Drive to Gateway

A couple days ago David & I decided it was time to go for a nice drive, just the two of us. David picked out the perfect place to go. Gateway, CO., and driving through that caynon area in the fall was very pretty. I took scenic pictures of the beautiful bright yellow trees, and the red on these mesa mountains is what you might see in Arizona. Later on we saw two different herds of elk. That was pretty cool, there were a couple of young ones playing with each other and running back and forth. Love the peaceful days.

It's been such a busy summer, and wow it's about over. Can't believe it's the the
1st of Sept. Sure enjoyed the Marshall Reunion in Utah. The daughter has been very gung hoo about saving money at the grocery store with coupons. She's done abolutey fantastic. It's been fun trying to keep up. The hubby's been workin hard driving long hours, and that's no exageration.
So I guess is was about time I checked out Grand Junction's hospital. It's actually very nice, it was time I went to the emergency room, and of course stayed there - ooh about four hours. They were pretty thorough, got to have an EKG & an MRI. They had to rule out that I really didn't have a stroke - and NO I didn't. Just another M.S. episode. It just came about a little different than the others that I've had, so it threw me off also. The numbness and dizziness usually comes and goes. However the wonderful pain in the head hasn't bothered me that bad and come on that strong and quickly for a very long time. But I got the medication I needed. So I should be A-OK in about 2-6 weeks. I was so grateful to my beautiful daughter for being there, we were keeping the happy thoughts flowing. And thank you so much Kim for helping with the grandkids so Kristina could see to her mother, since the hubby was out of town. Now I'm back to super slow mode. But that's OK, I've got plenty of my hobbies to keep me on the up side.

zip a dee doo dah

This used to be one of David's favorite songs when he was young. So I pulled it up one day on youtube and played if for Trey. Now he loves to have me play it for him ALL THE TIME!! And actually I don't mind at all, I kinda like it myself.
